Focus Mode


A mode to focus or to center objects.
To get this feature:
Main Menu: Camera - Focus Mode
or the "Focus Mode" button
No images will be saved.

A Form will be shown.
Change the settings in this Form if necessary
The settings in that Form are only related to the Focus mode.

CCD Imaging CCD or Tracking CCD or Remote Head (if present)
Zoom To zoom in ( useful at 3x3 binning ) or out (useful at a large CCD)
Binning Chose a binning mode (to center objects )
Exposure time depends on the object
Mode You should use "Manual" if you want to take one image. You may chose an other mode in the control window, using the context menu (right mouse button)
" auto, use Shutter " take many images, until you press "ESC"
" auto, no Shutter "(Turbo Mode) only if you select a sub frame, or if you use the tracking CCD, or 3x3 binning
Lines vertical Binning : fill in value v: v= 0 no Lines, v >0 Draw Lines to indicate which lines may be binned by vertical binning of v.
Show Lines: Checked: Draw Lines to indicate which lines may be binned by vertical binning of v.
Unchecked: no lines.
same as Settings: checked: This value is also used in the next image, if vertical binning is selected
Auto contrast % Darks - fill in the per cent of the pixels(calculated by a Histogram), which will be black in the image
% Lights - fill in the per cent of the pixels(calculated by a Histogram), which will be white in the image
(the other pixels are shown in a shade of grey, which depends on there brightness)
(Increasing % Darks will dim the image, Increasing % Lights will make the image brighter)
Show peak value Shows the peak value, useful to focus. Use the context menu to chose the position of the text and the font.
press "OK" to start the focus mode (and the first image), and to store the settings of that mode.
press "Cancel" to cancel

After the first image is complete, you can select a part of the image, by pressing the left mouse button and moving the mouse. After that press the right mouse button.
You may select:
focus mode - size sub frame
planetary mode, the following images will have the size of the sub frame.
other images - planetary mode
all other images (like drift scan images ) will be taken in planetary mode (for that images, it works of course only in horizontal direction )
You may also select the first item, and then the second item
